Jee Hoon Stark’s Matchbook Paintings at Nashville’s Smallest Art Gallery

The latest NSAG show is now up featuring 30 matchbook paintings from Jee Hoon Stark. The works a so intricately detailed that I’m thinking of attaching a magnifying glass to the gallery with a string, since that’s how he created all the art in the first place.

In his words:

Matchbook Paintings were inspired from the workshop I participated in Tokyo last year. I was invited to work with an incredible miniature artisan to learn and create three-dimensional small worlds. It was an uplifting experience in both mentally and physically. Afterward, I began working with small paintings/drawings and the results became many series of intricate paintings on matchbooks. It is an on going project, which I would like to continue to experiment with different techniques and methods for piecing small worlds.

Works are now available for sale online, or you can drop by the village to check it out!
