What if the 2013 basketball tournament games were determined by who has the best logo? With the help of my buddies Austin and Jamie, I put together a bracket to see which school came out on top. Some of the results were quite unexpected:
Check out the full bracket here.
Just like the real tourney there were some serious upsets. How did Arizona lose!? What are your picks? @dbox.

Similar to the Unfold site making it’s way around the internets yesterday, Nike Better World makes great use of parallax scrolling and clean layouts.

This entire article by John Sculley on Steve Jobs is a great read, but especially loved this part:
An anecdotal story, a friend of mine was at meetings at Apple and Microsoft on the same day and this was in the last year, so this was recently. He went into the Apple meeting (he’s a vendor for Apple) and when he went into the meeting at Apple as soon as the designers walked in the room, everyone stopped talking because the designers are the most respected people in the organization. Everyone knows the designers speak for Steve because they have direct reporting to him. It is only at Apple where design reports directly to the CEO.
Later in the day he was at Microsoft. When he went into the Microsoft meeting, everybody was talking and then the meeting starts and no designers ever walk into the room. All the technical people are sitting there trying to add their ideas of what ought to be in the design. That’s a recipe for disaster.

Once upon a time designer-slash-model Matt Lehman worked for CMT. Recently he’s gone out on his own and formed Matt Lehman Studio where he wizards up such sweet designs as this, this and this. Crazy-impressive body of work from a super nice guy.

I’m all for helping out with the oil spill, but if not donating means I get to keep this awesome black tumblr theme, then… sorry dolphins.

This image featuring the tourism logos for all 50 states is currently being passed around twitter. The general consensus is that NY and GA are coming up as the winners, and I’d even add Kentucky to the top of the list as well.
Texas is just hilarious. Maine & North Carolina - way to phone it in guys. Florida, we get it, you have oranges. Arkansas: the natural state… university?… from the 80s? Minnesota is so insane that I kinda like it. Kansas and Indiana are interchangeable snoozefests. Why is Alabama a frisbee?
See how your state stacks up

Michael and I just launched a little site at fav4.org. You pick your favorite 4 websites, then set it as your homepage. That’s it!
I’ll be adding sites as people suggest them. Follow @fav4dot.org for updates.
